Professor Hilde Henriksen Waage of the University of Oslo has been awarded the Transparency Prize for 2026. The recognition celebrates over two decades of Waage’s work challenging Norway’s most powerful political circles to locate missing archival documents related to the Oslo Accords. The Oslo Accords, signed in the 1990s, were two interim agreements between Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), leading to mutual recognition and a plan for limited Palestinian self-governance. Despite these advancements, the core issues of the conflict remained unresolved. Waage expressed her gratitude and stated the prize is a lifetime achievement award for her research. Her dedication has aimed to bring greater openness surrounding these pivotal historical agreements. The prize acknowledges the importance of accessing complete historical records relating to the Oslo Accords.
