OpenAI is significantly expanding the advertising capabilities within ChatGPT, adding 26 new countries including Pakistan, bringing the total reach to 89 nations. This move aims to bolster revenue, particularly as the company prepares for a potential IPO. Having initially tested advertising in the US earlier this year, OpenAI now boasts over 100,000 advertisers utilizing the platform. The expansion includes 14 additional Latin American countries – such as Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Peru – alongside markets in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia, including Nigeria, South Africa, Serbia, Ukraine, Cambodia, Bangladesh and Pakistan. Advertisers can access these new markets through established partners or OpenAI’s Ads Manager. Importantly, advertising will be limited to users on the free and Go plans, with paid subscriptions remaining ad-free. OpenAI also recently introduced AI tools to aid advertisers and is testing sponsored agents in the US.
