Jamal Al-Asri, Secretary-General of the Unified Socialist Party in Morocco, expressed dissatisfaction with the results achieved by the “Left Alliance” – composed of his party and the Democratic Left Federation – in the 2026 legislative elections. Despite increasing their representation from two to eight seats, Al-Asri believes the outcome fell short of expectations. He emphasized that the election revealed ongoing issues concerning electoral integrity, and the influence of money, power, and prominent figures. Al-Asri further alleges the government has begun to act with undue haste and in violation of the constitution during a "working session." The concerns were voiced following the publication of the article on Hespress, a Moroccan online newspaper. These statements signify growing opposition concerns regarding the direction of Moroccan politics.
