The President of Mongolia, Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh, has arrived in Berlin, Federal Republic of Germany, on October 19-22, 2026, at the invitation of Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. He was welcomed at Berlin Brandenburg Airport’s special zone by Dorothee Dinger, Head of the Office of the Federal President and State Secretary, Thomas Graf, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, J. Oyunbaatar, and other officials. German Air Force aircraft escorted and saluted the President’s aircraft upon entry into German airspace and after landing. A guard of honor from the German Armed Forces presented arms and a 21-gun salute was fired at the airport. This state visit to the Federal Republic of Germany marks 14 years since a Mongolian President last visited, coinciding with the 100th anniversary of educational cooperation between the two countries. During the visit, both Presidents will hold official talks to expand cooperation in mutually beneficial trade, economics, education, science, culture, and other fields, and will sign a “Joint Declaration between Mongolia and Germany” to strengthen their strategic partnership. They will also open the “Chinggis Khaan and the Mongol World” exhibition in Berlin, alongside a Mongolian-German Business Forum, a Mongolian-German Science Day, an international conference on “Mongolian and Post-Mongolian Cultural Exchange and Environment in Eurasia”, and an international symposium commemorating the 120th birthday of famous writer D. Natsagdorj. Mongolia and the Federal Republic of Germany established diplomatic relations on January 31, 1974, elevating ties to a comprehensive partnership in 2008.
