The president of the Associação para a Conservação do Património (ACP) in Lisboa has expressed satisfaction with the suspension of scooters in the city. The president stated that the ban was the “only possible measure” to address issues related to scooter use. A referendum on the matter is expected to follow standard procedures. However, the referendum’s future is contingent on a permanent ban enacted by Mayor Carlos Moedas. Should Moedas definitively prohibit scooters in Lisboa, the referendum could be cancelled. The situation remains fluid, pending the Mayor’s decision regarding the long-term legality of scooter operation within the city of Lisboa. This decision will ultimately determine whether residents will have a formal vote on the matter.
