Beginning November 1st, Latvia will implement new European Union legislative requirements regarding shipments arriving from countries outside the EU. These changes will introduce a handling fee for all consignments originating from third countries. The State Revenue Service (VID) of Latvia announced that the fee will be two euros per item within a single consignment. This new regulation aims to standardize handling procedures and costs for imports across the EU. The change affects anyone receiving goods from outside the EU into Latvia. Importers and recipients should prepare for this additional cost when processing shipments. The VID has indicated the fees are a direct result of updated EU-wide policies.
