A three-day initiative in Kisumu County, Kenya, has successfully mapped and registered over 500 children living with disabilities. The project aimed to connect these children with vital resources, including education, healthcare, and government assistance programs. Many of the children had previously lacked formal assessments, making this outreach particularly crucial. During the exercise, the children underwent nutritional screening, physiotherapy evaluations, and were subsequently placed in suitable institutions. This mapping effort represents a significant step towards ensuring these vulnerable children receive the support they need to thrive. Organizers hope this will lead to improved accessibility and quality of life for children with disabilities throughout Kisumu County. The initiative marks a commitment to inclusive development and proactive social welfare programs within the region.
