A Kenyan pastor, Paul Mackenzie, leader of Good News International Ministries, was found guilty on Monday of the murder of 191 people, the vast majority of whom were children. The conviction relates to the discovery of over 400 bodies in the Shakahola forest. Mackenzie allegedly instructed parents to starve their children to death in order to “meet Jesus.” Authorities began investigating Mackenzie and his ministry after reports of mass starvation surfaced earlier this year. The court case focused on proving Mackenzie’s direct responsibility for the deaths. This verdict marks a significant step in holding those accountable for the horrific events that unfolded in Shakahola forest, Kenya. Further investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the tragedy and identify any accomplices.
