Israel has become a partner of the Pacific Islands Forum, an inter-governmental organization, pledging to contribute expertise in climate change adaptation and water management. This move signifies a strengthening of ties between Israel and Pacific nations. The announcement comes after Nauru opened an embassy in Jerusalem last month, a decision placing it among a small number of countries recognizing Israeli sovereignty over the city. This action defied international pressure regarding the status of Jerusalem. The Israeli Foreign Ministry highlighted the partnership as a step towards increased collaboration with the Pacific region. The partnership aims to address critical challenges faced by Pacific Island nations, including those related to climate change and water security. Israel’s involvement is anticipated to provide valuable assistance and resources to the Forum’s member states.
