Ismail A. Hussein has resigned from the Oslo Venstre city council group and left the party, announcing his decision in a Facebook post on Monday afternoon. His departure stems from dissatisfaction with the party’s priorities regarding Groruddalen and multicultural issues. Hussein initially intended to serve his term but was moved to resign following the withdrawal of three skilled female colleagues from seeking re-election or the nomination process. He sharply criticizes the party leadership for failing to address issues leading to these departures, emphasizing the loss of diverse perspectives. Haakon Riekeles, group leader of Oslo Venstre, stated they will address the challenges raised by Hussein, despite disagreements with his characterizations. Riekeles acknowledged Hussein’s call for a discussion on diversity and development within the party, despite his resignation.
