A retired Lieutenant General Mazhar Jamil, advisor to Pakistan’s National Command Authority, warned the “dangerous ideology” influencing Indian military thinking poses significant risks to South Asia and beyond. He stated that Indian military doctrines exhibit a “poor strategic sense” regarding nuclear realities, potentially destabilizing the region. Jamil highlighted the need for political approaches to conflict resolution in the nuclearised South Asian environment, criticizing military adventurism and hegemonic ambitions. He specifically pointed to unresolved disputes between India and Pakistan, particularly Kashmir, stating it requires resolution according to UN Security Council resolutions. Jamil expressed concern over India’s perceived reluctance to address Kashmir in multilateral forums, instead opting to manage the conflict through military actions in occupied Kashmir and aggression against Pakistan. This approach, he argues, further exacerbates the risks in the region.
