The race for mayor in Vysoké Tatry has narrowed to three candidates, notably including two brothers, Róbert Gálfy and Alexander Gálfy. The Gálfy brothers are the sons of Ivan Gálfy, a renowned mountaineer, mountain rescue service chief, and expedition organizer. Current mayor Jozef Štefaňák will not be seeking reelection. Róbert Gálfy brings experience as an internationally licensed mountain guide, a skialpinist, and a businessman who owns a chain of sports stores. He previously served as a local council member. Residents of Vysoké Tatry have expressed a preference for the brothers to reach an agreement rather than engage in a competitive mayoral campaign.
