Researchers in Ghana are leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to revolutionize solar panel technology, aiming for increased efficiency and affordability. The project, backed by the French Embassy in Ghana, employs AI-driven computational methods to discover optimal material combinations for photovoltaic cells. Currently, solar cell conversion efficiency stands around 22%; the team hopes to raise this to 25-30%. This advancement promises to broaden access to renewable energy sources within Ghana. A key goal is to foster local expertise and capacity in the development of solar technologies. Successful implementation could significantly contribute to Ghana’s sustainable energy future. The research focuses on environmentally friendly materials as well.
