Technology billionaire Elon Musk announced on Monday his intention to gift shares of his company, SpaceX, to every child in the United States. Musk stated on social media that he plans to distribute one unit of SpaceX stock to each American child in the coming year, though details on implementation remain scarce, noting it is “just the first step.” According to U.S. Census Bureau data from 2024, approximately 73 million children under the age of 18 reside in the United States. Reports indicate Musk owns 38% of the space technology company SpaceX. This announcement follows a similar pledge made last month by former President Donald Trump, who promised $5,000 to every American adult if the Republican party maintains control of Congress in the November elections. SpaceX achieved a record-breaking IPO in June, raising $85.7 billion, and its Starship super-heavy rocket reached Earth orbit for the first time in September, marking significant progress toward Musk’s goal of reaching Mars.
