State-owned electricity provider PT PLN Unit Induk Distribusi Sulawesi Selatan, Sulawesi Tenggara, dan Sulawesi Barat (UID Sulselrabar) reports a substantial 53.7 percent increase in electric vehicle ownership within its service area. This growth, observed up to October 2026, signifies a rising trend in electric vehicle adoption across South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, and West Sulawesi. To support this expansion, PLN is actively bolstering charging infrastructure. Currently, PLN operates 84 SPKLU (Charging Station for Electric Vehicles) throughout the region. The company is committed to facilitating the transition to electric mobility by ensuring adequate charging facilities are available to meet the increasing demand. This investment aims to encourage further electric vehicle purchases and reduce reliance on fossil fuels in Sulawesi Selatan, Sulawesi Tenggara, and Sulawesi Barat. PLN’s efforts demonstrate a proactive approach to accommodating the evolving transportation landscape in Indonesia.
