Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, alongside other delegates, arrived in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, and was welcomed by Tajik Prime Minister Qohir Rasulzoda ahead of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Heads of Government (CHG) meeting. The CHG serves as the SCO’s second-highest decision-making body, focusing on economic, financial, and socio-economic cooperation within the region. Dar also met with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, who stressed the importance of strengthening regional economic ties through the SCO to foster connectivity and stability. During the visit, Dar will engage in bilateral talks with counterparts from other SCO member states. Pakistan recently assumed the SCO chairmanship and is preparing to host the Council of Heads of State (CHS) summit in 2027, following preparatory reviews in Islamabad. Furthermore, Pakistan currently chairs SCO’s Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (SCO-RATS).
