A couple visiting relatives in Lakshmipur’s Raipura were held hostage and brutally assaulted in their home. The incident occurred on Tuesday, October 20th, prompting police to arrest Riyad Hasan Boyati, a leader of the Krishak Dal (Farmer’s Party). Boyati, a candidate for president of the Raipura Pourashava Krishak Dal and former joint convener of the Raipura Government College Chhatra Dal (student wing), allegedly led the attack on the expatriate couple. The couple were reportedly held captive and beaten indiscriminately. The assault took place in the Denayetpur area of Raipura Bazar. Authorities confirm Boyati’s arrest in connection with the violent home invasion and subsequent assault. Further details regarding the motive behind the attack are currently under investigation.
