Two recent French films, *La Gradiva* by Marine Atlan and *15/18* by Cédric Kahn, are garnering attention for their remarkably natural portrayals of teenagers. The success of these films highlights a filmmaking approach centered on dialogue and respect when working with young actors. Casting directors face the challenge of sustaining a long-term filming process while carefully managing the stress experienced by adolescent performers. The process requires a delicate balance between instinctive selection and precise evaluation of a young actor’s capabilities. The films demonstrate an effective method of achieving authentic performances from this demographic. Both *La Gradiva* and *15/18* serve as examples of a respectful and collaborative approach to teenage representation in cinema.
