James and Laureta Gale made a surprising discovery while renovating a historic lodging house in Brooklyn: a 1901 coal delivery schedule. The couple uncovered the log while restoring the 1880s building, which they are converting into an 11-room guesthouse. Remarkably, the schedule links directly to James Gale’s family history, revealing their past involvement in coal delivery services within Brooklyn. The Gales are meticulously preserving original features of the structure while updating it with modern amenities. They intend to showcase the coal delivery schedule upon completion as a tribute to the building’s heritage and their family's connection to it. This find adds a personal and historical layer to their renovation project in Brooklyn, celebrating the area’s past.
