The Brno branch of the Civic Democratic Party (ODS) failed to retain its leading position in the recent municipal elections, finishing with 19 percent of the vote behind the winning coalition of the People’s Party and Mayors. Following the results, Robert Kerndl, head of the regional ODS branch in Brno, has announced his departure from politics after twenty-five years of service. Kerndl had previously indicated his intention to leave political life. He believes that a younger leader is needed to revitalize the party, and substantial changes are necessary for future success. The ODS will select his successor in early November. This marks a significant transition for the ODS in Brno following a disappointing election outcome.
