The Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE), the world’s largest electronic music event, commenced today, marking its 30th anniversary. Starting as a conference for a few hundred experts at De Balie, ADE has grown into a large-scale cultural event encompassing panels, festivals, and parties throughout Amsterdam. Over 300 locations across the city participate, ranging from major venues like the Johan Cruijff Arena to smaller clubs, record stores, theaters, and even care homes. The event has expanded geographically, moving beyond the city center locations like Paradiso, de Melkweg and Escape to all Amsterdam districts and beyond, including events at SugarFactory in Halfweg. This year’s ADE features a broadened artistic and cultural program, featuring performances by the National Ballet and the Concertgebouworkest, alongside dance performances and art installations in venues like the Oude Kerk. The curator notes a significant increase in participating locations and program diversity since 2023.
