A new public-private partnership will bring approximately $120 million (300bn/-) in investment to Zanzibar over the next two decades. The deal, signed between YAS Fiber Tanzania, ZICTIA, and the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar, focuses on expanding broadband internet access across the islands. This infrastructure project aims to strengthen the archipelago’s digital capabilities and support sustained economic growth. YAS Fiber will lead the implementation of the project, working in collaboration with local authorities. The initiative represents a significant step towards bridging the digital divide and fostering innovation in Zanzibar. Officials anticipate the improved connectivity will unlock new opportunities for businesses and residents alike. The agreement underscores Zanzibar’s commitment to modernizing its infrastructure and participating in the global digital economy.
