A woman in her thirties was initially detained and charged with serving expired chicken to police officers during the funeral of King Harald in September. The incident occurred while she was working at a hotel in Oslo, and subsequently led to her dismissal from the job. However, authorities have now dropped the case after an investigation revealed no one fell ill after consuming the chicken. According to Oslo Police District prosecutor Marion Berg Hauge, the totality of the evidence did not prove the woman intentionally served expired food to disrupt police duties. The woman’s lawyer, Julie Conradi Larsen, expressed her belief that the charges were unwarranted from the beginning and wished the case had been dismissed outright due to lack of criminal activity. The case was closed due to insufficient evidence.
