A pack of wolves has been documented attacking a herd of European bison in Poland’s Białowieża Forest, potentially for the first time on video. Researchers Robin Wijnandsová and Tomasz Borowik from the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) captured the footage in September of last year, recently publishing it on the Ecology and Evolution journal website. The incident occurred in one of Europe’s last remaining primeval forests. The video provides rare insight into predator-prey dynamics between the two species. Experts believe this interaction highlights the ongoing struggle for resources and territory within the forest ecosystem. The footage is considered significant for understanding the behavior of both wolf packs and bison herds in the region.
