The Washington Wizards have chosen BYU’s Ally Ji Dibango as the first overall pick in the NBA draft, held in Brooklyn, New York. This marks the fifth time in franchise history the Wizards have secured the top pick, most recently selecting John Wall in 2010. Dibango, a 19-year-old, averaged 25.5 points and 6.8 rebounds during his last collegiate season, scoring in double figures in all 35 games played. Following the Wizards’ selection, the Utah Jazz chose Darren Peterson at number two and Cameron Boozer at number three. The first round concluded with the Dallas Mavericks’ pick at number 30, with the draft continuing tomorrow with the New York Knicks’ selection. Mongolian player Sharavjamts Enkh-Od also participated in the draft process, attending training camps with several NBA teams.
