UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham has appointed Wes Streeting as the new Defence Secretary, replacing John Healey. Streeting previously served as Health Secretary but resigned in May, citing a lack of confidence in former leader Keir Starmer. He briefly considered running for Labour leadership but ultimately decided against challenging Burnham. Miatta Fahnbulleh has been named the new Energy Secretary as part of the wider government reshuffle. Notably, former Labour leader Ed Miliband will become the Foreign Secretary, and John Healey will take on the role of Chancellor of the Exchequer. Healey’s resignation from the Defence role in June stemmed from disagreements over defence funding under Starmer’s leadership.
