Vietnam’s Ministry of Health has approved a satellite hospital project running from 2026 to 2030, aiming to improve access to advanced medical services for residents in underserved regions. The initiative focuses on bringing specialized healthcare closer to the population and reducing the need for patients to travel to larger, centralized hospitals. A key goal of the program is to decrease the rate of patient transfers for specific conditions by at least 20% by 2030, following the transfer of relevant technical expertise. This will be achieved through the development of “satellite” hospitals linked to larger medical centers. The project intends to enhance the quality of care available locally and alleviate pressure on major hospitals. The Ministry anticipates improved health outcomes and greater equity in healthcare access as a result of this investment.
