Despite achieving Level 2 digital identity verification via VNeID in Vietnam, many citizens are still required to present physical identification cards when seeking notarization services. This indicates a disconnect between digital identity implementation and practical application in official procedures. The VNeID, intended as a digital replacement for the physical căn cước (national ID card), isn’t yet universally accepted by notaries. This issue highlights ongoing challenges in the nationwide transition to digital identification and services within Vietnam. Authorities are likely to address the gap to fully realize the benefits of the VNeID system and streamline administrative processes for citizens. Further integration and acceptance of the digital ID are necessary for a truly paperless experience when dealing with legal documentation in Vietnam. The current situation necessitates continued reliance on physical documents despite successful digital verification.
