Vietnam has introduced expanded classification regulations for electric vehicles (EVs) through Amendment Circular 45/2026, issued by the Ministry of Construction. This is the first time Vietnam has implemented such comprehensive categorization for EVs, signalling a proactive approach to the growing market. The updated regulations modify existing registration guidelines for road vehicles. Experts predict the new classifications will fuel significant growth and investment in Vietnam’s EV sector. This move aims to standardize procedures and accommodate the increasing diversity of electric vehicle types. The Ministry anticipates a surge in EV adoption following the implementation of these new rules. This development positions Vietnam as a more attractive destination for EV manufacturers and consumers alike.
