The National Liberal Party (PNL) in Romania will not vote on the exclusion of designated Prime Minister Adrian Veștea, or any other members, at its extraordinary congress on Sunday. Gheorghe Falcă, PNL Arad president and Member of the European Parliament, stated the party will not “compromise” the congress with such discussions. A vote on Veștea’s exclusion is currently impossible as the party’s statutes require modification first. This statute change is, however, on the agenda for Sunday’s meeting. The move appears to be a strategic decision by the Bolojan faction within the PNL. The delay suggests internal maneuvering is underway regarding Veștea’s position within the party.
