Veteran Malaysian politician Lee Lam Thye has contributed RM5,000 (approximately $1,100 USD) to the Media Prima-NSTP fund. The fund was established to support media personnel affected by recent industry-wide restructuring and job losses. Media Prima, a major Malaysian media conglomerate, announced significant workforce reductions earlier this month impacting several of its key publications and channels. Thye, a former politician with a long career in public service, expressed concern over the state of the Malaysian media landscape. He stated his donation was a small gesture of support for those impacted by the cuts. The Media Prima-NSTP fund aims to provide temporary financial assistance to affected journalists and staff. Further donations are being solicited from the public and corporate entities to bolster the fund’s resources.
