A Venezuelan boy, aged 11, was pulled alive from the debris of a collapsed building three days after a powerful earthquake struck the country. Rescue workers located the child on Saturday evening, just as the critical 72-hour window for finding survivors was closing. As of Saturday, the confirmed death toll from the earthquake has reached 1,430, with approximately 50,000 people still missing, according to the UN, suggesting the number is likely to rise. International aid is arriving via Simón Bolívar International Airport in Caracas, which is operating with a partially functional runway. The US Navy has deployed a ship off the Venezuelan coast to provide assistance. Earlier, a nine-month-old baby was rescued in La Guaira, one of the hardest-hit areas. Twenty-one countries are contributing search and rescue teams, including the US, which has sent over 250 specialists with search dogs. The earthquakes, measuring 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude, struck on Tuesday evening.
