Venezuela and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) have launched a joint initiative to combat the spread of the invasive coral *Unomia stolonifera* in the Caribbean Sea. The Ministry of Ecosocialism is collaborating with the FAO, utilizing technical assistance to validate five scientific methods for containing the coral’s propagation. This invasive species poses a significant threat to coastal biodiversity and the region’s fishing industry. The plan aims to mitigate the damage caused by the exotic coral, which is rapidly expanding its reach. Scientists are focused on controlling the spread to protect vulnerable marine ecosystems. The initiative represents a concerted effort to preserve the Caribbean’s ecological and economic resources.
