Valencian hotels are threatening to withdraw from the government’s “Imserso” program, which offers subsidized travel to seniors, due to insufficient payment rates. The hotel association Hosbec states the program currently reimburses between 28 and 30 euros per person per day. However, they claim the actual cost of operating a three or four-star hotel, even during the low season, is around 35 euros per day. This shortfall in funding makes participation unsustainable for many establishments. Hosbec is urging the government to increase the tariffs to cover operational costs. Without a rate adjustment, hotels fear continued participation will result in financial losses. The future of the popular “Imserso” program in the Valencia region hangs in the balance as negotiations continue.
