The United States has imposed new sanctions on Iran, targeting individuals, networks, and 17 vessels involved in the transportation of Iranian crude oil, oil products, and petrochemicals. The Treasury Department announced the measures on Thursday as part of its “Operation Economic Outcast,” a campaign designed to disrupt Iran’s revenue streams. These funds are allegedly used to support conflicts, missile development, cyberattacks, and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Washington aims to increase economic pressure on Tehran by curtailing its ability to finance these activities. The sanctions represent an escalation in the US effort to limit Iran's economic resources and influence. This latest action reflects ongoing tensions between the US and Iran regarding Tehran’s nuclear program and regional policies. The targeted vessels and individuals play a key role in facilitating Iran’s illicit oil trade, according to the US government.
