The U.S. Treasury Department has imposed fresh sanctions targeting individuals and entities linked to the Prince Group, a criminal organization operating in Southeast Asia. Nine individuals and 26 entities were added to the sanctions list by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). These sanctions aim to disrupt the group’s illicit financial activities, particularly those related to online gambling and associated crimes. One individual sanctioned is reportedly a close associate and mentor to Chen Zhi, a key figure within the Prince Group. The Treasury Department alleges the Prince Group facilitates human trafficking, online scams, and other criminal enterprises. This action builds upon previous sanctions against the group and its leaders, demonstrating a continued U.S. effort to combat transnational organized crime. The sanctions block any U.S. assets held by those listed and generally prohibit U.S. citizens from dealing with them.
