A peace deal between the United States and Iran has been signed, ending months of tension in the Middle East. The agreement, dubbed the “Islamabad Peace Deal” due to Pakistan’s mediation, includes a framework to end the conflict and reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif discussed the deal with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, both emphasizing the importance of continued dialogue and preventing disruptions to the peace process. Pakistan was praised for its role in facilitating the agreement, with the Crown Prince’s leadership highlighted as crucial. The deal’s signing occurred two days ahead of schedule, following electronic signatures from all parties, including President Trump and President Pezeshkian, with PM Shehbaz acting as mediator. Further negotiations on key issues are expected within the next 60 days, though subsequent talks planned in Switzerland have been postponed.
