Uruguayan exports reached US$1.219 billion in July, driven primarily by strong sales of beef, pulp, and dairy products. This figure represents a 2% increase in exports year-to-date. Officials attribute part of this positive trend to the recently implemented Mercosur-European Union trade agreement. The agreement has already resulted in significant savings for Uruguay, eliminating tariffs on exported goods. While the exact amount saved hasn’t been disclosed, it is described as being in the millions of dollars. This boost in exports signals a positive outlook for the Uruguayan economy. Continued growth in key agricultural sectors is expected to further contribute to export figures in the coming months.
