A new city, +Colonia, is under construction in Uruguay, sparking debate about its true nature. Built by the firm and online community Praxis, the project aims to create a utopian “post-AI” world. The project's leader draws inspiration from the Amish lifestyle, suggesting a deliberate move away from reliance on artificial intelligence. Whether +Colonia is a genuine haven for creatives escaping global turmoil, or simply an exclusive refuge for wealthy tech entrepreneurs, remains to be seen. The city is being developed on previously barren land in Uruguay. Its ultimate success, and the realization of its ambitious vision, is yet to be determined.
