Ulaanbaatar’s Mayor, B.Purevdagva, inspected the construction site of the DCC-5 power plant, emphasizing its strategic importance for energy security and economic growth. The project aims to provide electricity to 100,000 households and heating to 40,000, addressing long-standing infrastructure needs. Construction is slated to begin in November 2025 and conclude in May 2028, with work currently on schedule. The project is a 27.5-year public-private partnership between the city government and Mitaim International LLC, encompassing 2.5 years of construction and 25 years of operation. Officials report ongoing efforts to clear land, including the removal of accumulated waste, and anticipate finalizing the second phase of funding next week. The Mayor stressed the need for coordinated efforts between government agencies, continuous funding, and swift resolution of land acquisition issues to ensure timely completion.
