Ulaanbaatar city officials have signed a memorandum of understanding with BYD Company Limited to implement new technologies aimed at reducing air pollution and traffic congestion. The agreement, signed during the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification, focuses on four key areas. These include increasing electric vehicle adoption, establishing rapid charging stations (“Green Oases”), deploying battery energy storage systems (BESS), and introducing battery-based “Sky shuttle” public transport. BYD, a global leader in electric vehicles and renewable energy, has already sold over 17 million electric cars. The “Sky shuttle” system, utilizing BYD’s “Blade Battery” technology, has been successfully implemented in cities in China and São Paulo, Brazil, and is praised for its cost-effectiveness and rapid construction.
