Ulaanbaatar is preparing for the upcoming winter season, focusing on fuel supplies for ger district households. The city plans to secure 280,000 tons of semi-coking coal through an open tender, valued at 288.7 billion Mongolian Tugrik, for the 2026-2027 heating season. “Erdenes Tavan Tolgoi” LLC is procuring 180,000 tons of energy coal, with collection beginning on September 13th. “Tavantolgoi Fuel” company will produce briquette fuel from 120,000 tons of its energy coal for households, while 60,000 tons will be supplied to energy and heat producing organizations. As of today, the supplier for the 280,000 tons of semi-coking coal hasn’t been determined. Briquette fuel sales are scheduled to begin on September 15th at 435 locations across seven districts of the capital city.
