As Ulaanbaatar prepares to host the 17th session of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (COP-17), the Traffic Police Department is implementing measures to manage traffic and ensure public order. Police Colonel B. Ochirbat announced that over 2,000 surveillance cameras have been installed at 176 monitoring points throughout the city since last year to detect violations. These cameras will automatically register and fine vehicles violating restrictions, including those without permits or in restricted zones. The event area is divided into blue and green zones; the blue zone is for UN-related activities while the green zone is open to the public. Traffic police will be fully mobilized to manage traffic flow and maintain security around both zones, with designated parking and transportation options for visitors to the green zone.
