Ulaanbaatar is preparing for a potentially warmer-than-average summer in July and August, according to meteorologist O. Oyunchimed. Temperatures are expected to rise 5-10 degrees Celsius in the coming days, reaching 21-26 degrees Celsius during the day. While rainfall is predicted to be near the long-term average, the increased temperatures combined with potential downpours raise concerns about flash floods and strong wind gusts. Authorities are mobilizing rapid response teams to prevent and mitigate potential damage from flooding. Western regions of Mongolia are experiencing drought conditions despite recent rainfall due to persistently warm temperatures, while eastern regions report normal summer conditions. Forecasters anticipate stable, warmer nighttime temperatures from June 20th onwards, suggesting a return to typical summer weather patterns.
