Ukrainian firms MAC HUB and Sky Defenders are collaborating to enhance the capabilities of Katran naval drones. The partnership, formalized through a memorandum of cooperation, involves integrating Sky Defenders’ unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) onto the Katran USVs. This integration will enable the drones to conduct reconnaissance and potentially deliver strikes further inland within Russian-controlled coastal areas. The move aims to extend Ukraine’s reach and improve its ability to target enemy infrastructure. By combining the speed and sea-faring capabilities of the Katran USVs with the aerial perspective and attack potential of the UAVs, Ukraine hopes to gain a strategic advantage. This development signals a continued Ukrainian focus on innovative and asymmetric warfare tactics. The project reflects the country’s drive to develop indigenous defense technologies.
