Ukraine’s military is utilizing a unique strategy by deploying art and music directly into war zones through its Cultural Forces organization. Led by Mykolai Sierga, the group aims to strengthen societal resilience and overall security. This initiative highlights the importance of culture as a critical component of national survival during conflict. A recent meeting in Helsinki brought together over 60 Finnish and Ukrainian professionals from fields including culture, security, media, and decision-making. Discussions centered on integrating cultural strategies into national security frameworks. Participants explored how cultural engagement can enhance a society’s ability to withstand and recover from crises. The Ukrainian model is being examined as a potential lesson for other nations, including Finland, seeking to bolster their own comprehensive security approaches.
