Russia is deploying faster, jet-powered drones that are outpacing Ukraine’s current air defense systems. Ukraine initially developed inexpensive interceptors effective against slower Shahed drones, but these are proving insufficient against the new Russian technology. While Kyiv is successfully fielding new hardware capable of combating the faster drones, production rates remain a critical issue. The country lacks the capacity to manufacture these advanced systems in the quantities needed to adequately protect its airspace. Scaling up production is primarily hampered by financial constraints, highlighting a key challenge in Ukraine's defense against evolving Russian tactics. This discrepancy in drone capabilities and interceptor availability poses an ongoing threat to Ukraine’s security.
