Ukraine’s former defense minister, recently dismissed from his post, has unveiled a plan to create an “Army of Robots” to aid the war effort. The initiative aims to utilize robotic systems to perform dangerous tasks currently undertaken by soldiers, reducing casualties on the battlefield. These robots would be responsible for critical duties such as ammunition transport, wounded soldier evacuation, mine clearance, and holding defensive positions. The former minister stated a target production cost of $10,000 per robotic unit. He emphasized the substantial need for these machines, estimating tens of thousands will be required. The project represents a significant push toward integrating advanced technology into Ukraine’s defense strategy and mitigating the human cost of the ongoing conflict. This development signals a potential shift in military tactics within Ukraine.
