Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced a drone strike on an oil refinery in Russia’s Tyumen region, located over 2,000 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. Zelenskyy stated the attack was carried out using a new drone with a range of up to 3,000 kilometers, framing it as a justified response to Russian aggression. The Tyumen refinery is one of Russia’s most modern, with an annual capacity of 8 million tons and processing approximately 6 million tons of crude oil annually. The governor of Tyumen Oblast, Alexander Moor, confirmed the attack but reported no casualties or damage, stating workers were evacuated. The refinery produces around 0.5 million tons of gasoline and 2.5 million tons of diesel fuel per year. Zelenskyy characterized the successful long-range operation as a legitimate countermeasure against ongoing Russian attacks.
