Uganda recently marked the 20th anniversary of the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) with a key focus on the country’s future agricultural development. For two decades, Uganda has prioritized strengthening agricultural research, improving seed systems, and bolstering institutions designed to support its farmers. The anniversary event in Kampala brought together scientists, policymakers, agribusiness leaders, and development partners. Discussions centered on how to build on past successes and navigate the next phase of agricultural transformation. A central question arose regarding how Uganda can continue to progress in agriculture. The aim is to chart a course for sustainable growth and enhanced food security. This milestone represents a moment to reassess strategies and accelerate progress in the agricultural sector.
